About the NYC Pauper League
The NYC Pauper League brings together Magic: The Gathering players from all walks of life to compete in the Pauper format. Pauper is a unique format where only common cards are allowed, making it accessible and fun for players on any budget. Our league provides a space for both casual players and competitive grinders to showcase their skills and earn their spot in the Top 8 Invitational.
Our community thrives on friendly competition, inclusivity, and, most importantly, having fun while playing the game we all love. Whether you're here for the competition or just to meet fellow MTG enthusiasts, the NYC Pauper League has something for you!
How the League Works
Each week, players compete in events at our two locations: Hex & Co.'s Union Square (Tuesdays) and Brooklyn Strategist (Saturdays). Each event consists of 3 rounds of competitive Pauper Magic, where players earn league points based on their performance:
- Match Win: 3 points
- Match Tie: 1 point
- Match Loss: 0 points
The top 8 players with the most points at the end of the season will be invited to the NYC Pauper Top 8 Invitational, where they will compete for ultimate bragging rights and a special prize!
We encourage players of all skill levels to participate—whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, there's always room for you in our community!
